Step 1 Remove the Frame
- Remove the screws from the inside frame with a screwdriver.
- Remove the frame from the wall.
Step 2 Remove Rod Cap
- With the frame lying flat, use pliers to gently loosen and remove one of the caps.
Step 3 Remove the Rod
- Slide the rod out completely from the opposite side.
Step 4 Replace the Flap
- Place the new flap in the frame and slide the rod back in.
- Reinstall the rod cap.
Step 5 Reinstall the Frame
- Reinstall the frame into the wall.
- Add the screws back in and tighten them.

How do I get my dog to stop chewing off the rubber connectors?You can apply some sort of bitter deterrent on the hinges so that your dog will not continue to chew them off. (Make sure to do some research to ensure the deterrent is safe for your pet to consume!) |
How often will I need to replace the rubber connectors?This depends entirely on how active your pet is as well as your climate. Areas that are colder tend to turn the rubber connectors rigid and brittle, making it more susceptible to breaking. If you have a very active pet that uses the door a lot or goes through it with a large force, you may also need to replace the connectors more often. |
Will this work with the Ideal Pet Products Original Pet Door with Telescoping Frame?No, this will not work any other Ideal model door. |

How do I get the current flap off?You do need to remove the pet door frame in order to get to the rod that holds the flap. Once you remove the rod, you slide the new flap in, replace the rod endcap, and screw the pet door back in place. |
