Does the flap include hardware?

Most replacement flaps do not include extra hardware like screws. Exceptions include Hale and Endura Flaps. In most cases, the original hardware can be reused.

What if the product breaks again?

Most manufacturers offer a minimum of one year warranty on their products. You can reach out to the manufacturer or ask us to do it for you if something breaks within the warranty period.

How difficult is it to replace the flap?

Some flaps are straightforward to replace, while others might require uninstallation of the pet door. Instructions can be found under the Videos or Installations tabs on each product page. Email us at customerservice@petdoors.com for further queries.

What's the difference between dog or cat flaps?

Replacement cat flaps are typically made of a rigid material while dog flaps are usually flexible. However, it largely depends on the brand.

What should I do if I have two flaps?

If you need a double flap replacement, you'll need to order two flaps as all flaps on our site are sold individually.

Are all cat tunnels the same?

No, cat tunnels differ and aren't interchangeable. It's best to find the replacement flap designed for your model and brand.

Do you carry Johnson doggie door replacement flaps?

Although Johnson brand pet door replacements are discontinued, we offer Pride replacement flaps as a suitable alternative for Johnson and PetSafe Ultimate doors.

My door just says "Made in USA", how do I identify the needed flap?

If your dog door is made in the USA, you'll need the Ideal Deluxe flap if your door is aluminum, or the Ideal Original Flap if your door has a plastic frame.

Which model replaces the flap for my Pet-Eze door?

The PetSafe "Classic" replacement flap is a suitable replacement for the Pet-Eze door. It's advisable to purchase more than one as these flaps are being discontinued.

What's the difference between a single and double flap?

A single flap doggie door has one flap on the inside, while a double flap has one inside and one outside. Single flaps are less expensive and suitable for milder climates, whereas double flaps offer better insulation and are recommended for colder areas.

My Endura Flap is too heavy for my dog. Can I replace it with a lighter flap?

Flap replacements are not interchangeable. If your dog finds it difficult to push, you can adjust the magnet strength of the Endura Flap's magnetic closure.

What clear flap doors do you offer for doggy doors?

We offer the Ideal “Original” and “Ruff Weather” replacement flaps, the “Protector” pet door replacement flaps, and clear flaps by Hale. Remember, these are specific to the model and manufacturer.

My flap only has "Medium" on it, what do I need?

The type of replacement depends on the make and dimensions of your flap. The Ideal Original and Ideal Deluxe doors usually have this embossed in the middle of the flap. If it's clear, go with an Ideal flap. If it's tinted and consists of two pieces, you may need a Pride flap as Johnson flaps are discontinued.

Can I purchase a dog door flap measuring 15” x 20”?

We offer Ideal's Super Large (or XXL) size flaps suitable for these dimensions. You must have an Ideal pet door to use an Ideal flap.

Why is my Pet-Eze door replacement flap not long enough?

It is the correct flap. The manufacturing process for newer Pet Eze doors has changed, requiring some adjustments on the customer's end to achieve a tight close.

I have a door with 3 plastic sections and rubber in between where it bends. What is it?

You either have an Ideal Ultra Flex or the Ideal Draft Stopper Pet Door. The replacement flap for both models will be the same.

Do you stock a Pride dog door replacement flap?

Yes, we do stock Pride dog door replacement flaps. They are only compatible with Pride pet doors.

Do you have parts for my Ideal "Fast Fit" pet door?

We carry Ideal Pet Products' replacement flaps, but other parts like locking covers must be purchased directly from the manufacturer.

Can I just buy the frame for my broken dog door?

For most doors, the frames are not sold separately. You might need to purchase a new door. Contact our Customer Service team to check for your specific brand.

Can I buy a dog door cover for my cat flap?

We have a selection of dog door covers. However, compatibility depends on the model and manufacturer of your cat flap.

What flap replacement do I need for my PetSafe plastic pet door?

We carry PetSafe's dog door replacement flaps suitable for their plastic pet doors. It's essential to order the correct size and model for a proper fit.

Do I need tools to install a replacement flap?

Typically, a Phillips-head screwdriver is needed to install most replacement flaps. However, refer to the product details or contact our Customer Service team for specifics.

Are Ideal Ruff Weather replacement flaps and Protector pet door replacement flaps the same?

No, these are two different models from Ideal and their replacement flaps are not interchangeable.

Do replacement flaps include the flap holder?

Generally, replacement flaps do not come with a flap holder as they're designed to fit the existing frame and hardware of your pet door. Some exceptions apply; contact our Customer Service team for specifics.

What size dog door do I need for my dog?

The best way to determine the correct size is by measuring your pet from the bottom of their feet to the tallest part of their back. For width, measure the widest part of your pet or measure a doorway that your pet can comfortably walk through. Our Customer Service team can assist you with this.
