Why Dogs Like To Sleep With Human?
There is nothing more relaxing than snuggling with our furry friends at the end of a long day. If you have a dog, you may have noticed that they adore sleeping on your bed with you. Some dog owners love it and some hate it, but why do our dogs want to sleep with their humans?
The answer is simple: because they love you.
Dogs are a pack breed. Their ancestors lived and hunted in packs. And, if you have more than one dog, you may have noticed how your dogs seem to fall into a pack mentality together. Dogs in a pack eat, sleep, travel, and live together as much as possible. What you may not realize is that as their owner, you too are a part of the pack.
Your dog’s instincts tell them that they are at their safest when they stick with the pack. This means that when it is time to sleep, they want to doze where it will be the most safe and comfortable. And that means you and your bed.
Generally, it is safe for your dog to share a bed with you unless they have anxiety. Dogs who suffer from anxiety may feel as though they are the only ones on guard, which means that they have to sacrifice their time for sleep and relaxation in favor of keeping you safe day and night.
If you dog suffers from anxiety, it will be better for them to have their own space away from you to go to bed at night. This may mean a bed in another room, a dog house, a backyard with dog door access, or a crate.
